The Northminster Alternative Gift Opportunities Market will run in the Sanctuary on Dec. 4, 11, & 18 right after worship each Sunday.
When you make donations to any one of these organizations at our Market, we will provide a gift card with an insert explaining the project you’re supporting in the name of your giftee. So instead of one more tired, predictable gift of a tie, candle or box of candy, buy something that can help improve someone’s life, and give your friend or loved one the pleasure of helping someone less fortunate!
One way to help those less fortunate globally and in the United States is through the Alternative Gifts International organization. Food, blankets, wheelchairs, medical supplies, farm tools, education/training for a variety of skills, bicycles, books, seeds and plants and so much more, can be purchased. Almost every dollar goes directly to the project you support, and all the charities represented by AGI are vetted and highly rated by watchdog organizations. This is Northminster’s 24th year of supporting these projects around the world (since 1992). And we now accept credit cards in addition to checks or cash. Stop by the table even the week before the market opens, to learn more!
You will be able to make a donation for the purchase of diapers for the babies in the Baby Basics of Troy Ministry, which provides diapers to low-income working families from Troy and a few neighboring communities. At a cost of approximately $700-800 a year, affording enough diapers to keep their babies healthy and comfortable is a very real challenge for our families. Since laundromats don’t allow washing of cloth diapers, nor are they allowed in day cares, disposable diapers are the only option for many families today. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the purchase of diapers. This year you will have the chance to make your donations online, as well as with cash or check. Please help the Baby Basics Board and Volunteers continue to provide this ministry to our grateful families!
